I had promised to put up a picture of my talented friend's jewelry show that I attended last weekend and let you know her website. That's Kristi and me (on the right); the show was much bigger but this is the only picture that turned out :-( You can see her wonderful jewelry at www.KristiViss.com Check it out; her husband and sister-in-law are also two awesome modern oil and acrylic painters (Troy Viss and Kelly Viss-Hollinger) ...What a talented family!
Yesterday I finally took some time to go up to Sonora (just an hour away) to re-fill my jewelry case after hearing that I had sold a lot of items in the last 2-3 weeks. Armed with my camera and expecting to find the remnants of autumn colors that I was afraid I had missed, my hubby and I drove the short distance to the foothills of the Sierras.
It was a very warm day (80's) and aside from a tinge of yellow-green here and there, we did not spot any major color change yet. I spent a couple of hours sprucing up the case at the Aloft Gallery and then we headed towards Murphys, another foothill town a half hour from Sonora. We always look forward to having a great lunch at the "Grounds" restaurant there. We were also hoping for more color change even though it's about the same elevation.
So here's what we found; I'll call it "Searching for fall". We definitely have to make a point of going up again in 1-2 weeks. Fall is late this year...
I've been quite distracted the last couple of weeks with the big remodeling project and 101 other issues. October is half over and thank goodness, we scheduled a trip to the Sierra foothills soon. I am soooooo looking forward to it! I want to photograph fall colors so badly before they are gone. There is change-out at the Aloft Gallery coming up again too. Time goes so fast...
The other thing I'm looking forward to this weekend is my friend, Kristi Viss' jewelry show. Her work is fabulous. She works mainly in Precious Metal Clay and Sterling silver and has a modern style all her own. I will share some pictures and her website in my next post.
Amazingly I managed a couple of new pieces in midst of all the confusion around here that I'd like to share with you. Tomorrow I will post more views on my "New Work" page. I'm not getting as much done as I had hoped, but I'm still hanging in there; I just have to believe that everything will get better, soon...
October is here: it's my favorite month with cooler weather and the smell, taste and feel of fall. Soon, I want to aim my camera towards the gorgeous fall colors that are abundant in our town as well as the Sierra foothills and higher altitudes, not too far from us. Rusts, golds, ambers, oranges, browns--I can't wait! But for now, I aimed my camera at a few of the new items that I made lately; I seemed to be in a mostly earring-making mode. So here they are:
