Saturday I had some time to practice a bit of "torch-fire" enameling; I'd like to have a lot more time, but life gets in the way, as they say. Hopefully next week I can practice more--it's so much fun! I'll wait to have more pieces before I make some jewelry with them...or maybe not--I see some pendants and earrings emerging, combined with some beads and crystals...
It's been a while since I actually posted something. I know I missed the "photo of the week" last week too. Life just gets in the way of our best-intentioned plans sometimes, and we have to learn to accept that and just get back "on the horse", so to speak...I'm sure I will double-up on postings at other times, when there is just too much to say ;-)
Last Saturday and Sunday I took a workshop to learn a bit about torch-fired enameling on copper. I had been very intrigued by this new process and was admiring photos of projects in books and magazines for some time. So I finally "dove in". It was a blast! The teacher, Anat Silvera at Silvera Jewelry School in Berkeley made learning loads of fun, teaching many different techniques in the enameling process and giving us ample time to practice them. The picture shows samples of these techniques I made there. Now to design some nice pieces ...I'll have to set up an enameling station somewhere; that'll be fun! I'll let you know how it goes...
